DENIM

Written by Savannah Reich
Directed by Lisa Channer

DENIM explores and explodes the fantasies we tell about American classlessness by weaving through the history of denim jeans.

Presented by Theatre Novi Most in collaboration with University of Minnesota Theatre Department, 2018.

Jeans were created as a sturdy work uniform for gold miners during the CA gold rush by Levi Strauss and have since become both completely ubiquitous and a universal and international symbol for America. DENIM pulls at the threads of American history to see what unravels and what holds strong. Read more about the dramaturgy behind DENIM here.
